Related Services are specialized services such as Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Counseling, Behavior Analytic Services, that a student requires in order to benefit from their educational program.  All of these services are also available privately through medical providers; but school-based services have a different focus and purpose--to help the student benefit from their school program, while private or medical services aim to treat underlying medical diagnoses. 

The Child Study or Section 504 Team determines if a student is eligible for these services as part of their educational program by analyzing formal standardized evaluation data.
