Middle School Technology Program
Technology plays an important role in the middle school students’ day here at Ridgedale. It is viewed as a necessary tool
in the acquisition, organization and synthesizing of information concepts and skills. This tool is being integrated into
all aspects of the middle school curriculum from music class to science and everywhere in between. Students are experiencing
first hand how technology can be used for a wide range of tasks that enable them to be efficient and organized learners.
Media Center
The Media Center is outfitted with twelve computers that have full access to the Internet and our On-Line resources, such as,
Electric Library. Here students can research using both the volumes of reference books or the Internet. There is also a research room in the media center that has fourteen more computers.
Curriculum Integration Labs
There are four mobile computing labs that teachers can sign out the middle school. These computer labs are outfitted with
20 laptop computers and utilize wireless technologies for access to student files on the school servers, printing, and access to the
Internet. Any teacher can bring the lab to any classroom in the school to work on a project. These labs are used for Internet
research, writing projects, multimedia projects and using curricula bases software. The mobile lab is where the real power of
technology and learning can be seen and measured.
