Homework Club

Brooklake School’s Homework Club meets every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3:00 – 3:45 p.m. On Tuesday the Homework Club will meet in Miss Luciano’s classroom, room 16, and on Wednesday, Homework Club will meet in Miss Fellippello's classroom, room 31. The goal of The Homework Club is to provide a quiet, supportive atmosphere where the children will be allowed to do their work with a qualified teacher present. The Homework Club also provides the student with the opportunity to use computers to research a school report or project. Children may bring a small, non-messy snack to eat before they begin their work. If your child wishes to attend, he/she will need to:

1) get a Homework Club pass from either their homeroom teacher, when they sign up, or from Miss Fellippello or Miss Luciano.

2) bring the Homework Club pass home and have it signed by a parent/guardian.

3) bring the pass with them to Homework Club and hand it to the teacher for admittance. (No one will be admitted to Homework Club without a signed pass.)

If you need any further information please contact Miss Luciano or Miss Fellippello directly.

National Geographic Bee

The National Geographic Bee is a national geography bee sponsored by the National Geographic Society and is open to students in 4th through 8th grades. "Bees" are held first at the school-level, then the state level and finally the national level. The national winner is awarded a $25,000 scholarship. Brooklake is proud to host a school-level Bee each year during December at Brooklake during the school day. The Bee consists of seven rounds of questions answered orally. Participants move through to semi-final and final rounds with the last two participants squaring off in the championship round. The school winner will then take a written exam in January to qualify for the state-level contest. Preparation for the "Bee" is done at home by the student; the National Geographic website contains information on preparation.

The 2010 Bee will be held sometime in December; the date will be announced. Sign ups are going on now. There must be a minimum of 6 students in order to have the Bee.
